Most common cause: placement
- Put the device near a window, as high as practical.
- Avoid cupboards, behind TVs, or near thick walls.
Quick Wi-Fi improvements
- Move closer to the device for testing (same room).
- Try the faster Wi-Fi band if available (often 5GHz is faster at short range).
- Reduce interference: avoid placing next to other electronics.
Check how many devices are connected
- If lots of devices are streaming or downloading, speeds will drop.
- Pause large downloads and test again.
Run a fair speed test
- Test in the same room as the device.
- Use only one device during the test.
- Test twice: once on Wi-Fi, once via cable (if supported).
If speeds are still poor
Try a different spot in the property (front/back upstairs/downstairs). A small move can make a big difference.
