Change Wi-Fi name or password
Before you start
- Make sure you’re connected to the device’s Wi-Fi
- Have your current Wi-Fi password to hand
Step-by-step
- Connect to the device Wi-Fi. Use the Wi-Fi name and password on the device label.
- Open the settings page. In your browser, type the device’s local settings address shown in your setup guide/label (commonly a 192.168.x.x address).
- Log in. Use the admin login shown in your setup guide/label.
- Find Wi-Fi settings. Look for “Wi-Fi”, “Wireless”, or “Network” settings.
- Change the Wi-Fi name (SSID) and password. Save/apply changes.
- Reconnect your devices. Your phone/laptop will disconnect and you’ll need to join using the new Wi-Fi name/password.
Tips
- Use a password you’ll remember (12+ characters is ideal).
- Avoid personal info (postcode, address, etc.).
- If you split 2.4GHz and 5GHz Wi-Fi, give them different names (e.g. “HomeWiFi” and “HomeWiFi-5G”).
